The clerk's office staff can:
- Help you understand how the Court works.
- Help you reschedule Court hearings.
- Answer any questions that you may have about Court procedure.
- Help you find information about your case.
- Answer questions about fees that are owed to the Court.
- Direct you to other agencies that can provide assistance.
- Direct you to where you have to appear in Court.
The clerk's office staff cannot:
- Give you legal advice.
- Fill out forms for you.
- Tell you what to say or write.
CRIMINAL AND TRAFFIC DIVISION

The Criminal Division:
- Processes all misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases through disposition.
- Processes felony case arraignments and preliminary hearings.
- Operates the Traffic Violations Bureau
- Deals with all case record requests / inquiries / maintenance.

Civil complaint filing monetary jurisdictional limit: $15,000.
Small Claims complaint filing monetary jurisdictional limit: $3,000.
The Civil Division handles:
- Post-judgment filings of garnishments, bank attachments, replevins, levies, examinations.
- Forcible entry and detainer filings / eviction proceedings.
- Landlord / tenant rent deposit filings.
- Trusteeship appointments by the Court.
PROBATION DEPARTMENT

The Probation Department prepares and supervises all case referrals from the Court, including:
- Pre-sentence investigation reports
- Substance abuse (alcohol / drug) referrals
- Collection of restitution payments
The Probation Department also oversees electronic monitored house arrest and ignition interlock systems.

The Community Work Service:
- Provides alternative sentences for first time offenders.
- Assigns referred, non-violent offenders to work at non-profit and charitable organizations.
- Oversees referrals to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) monthly victim impact panel seminars.
MAGISTRATES

Magistrates are staff attorneys that assist the judge with judicial responsibilities, including: traffic court, small claims hearings, evictions, night court proceedings, payment hearings and other judicial proceedings.
They receive pleas, pronounce judgments, render opinions and conduct legal research.

Bailiffs:
- Assist the judge in courtroom proceedings.
- Schedule hearings, pre-trials, trials and jury trials.
- Oversee jury commission and selection process of prospective jurors.
- Create weekly court calendar / docket of daily proceedings.
